Arkansas minimum auto insurance

Arkansas drivers are required to have the following minimum coverage:

  • Bodily Injury and Death: $25,000 to cover one person in any one accident, and $50,000 to cover all injuries
  • Property Damages: $25,000

Arkansas does not require other forms of coverage (such as Collision and comprehensive insurance), but many drivers choose to purchase this insurance anyway, to help protect their cars or vehicles.

Penalties without Arkansas auto insurance

Drivers who are in an accident but can't show proof of insurance will receive a misdemeanor on their record. The court can also order that the vehicle be impounded until the driver receives proof of coverage. Drivers found to be at fault must compensate victims or their driving privileges can be suspended or revoked. Uninsured motorists also will need to file an SR-22 Certificate, which shows proof of insurance, with the DMV.

Arizona also has a unique electronic program developed by the state, requiring drivers to report that they have insurance.
