Chrysler Auto Insurance

The Maxwell Motor Company had already been producing cars for two decades when it was reorganized as the Chrysler Corporation in the 1920s. Today, DaimlerChrysler has auto making divisions that include Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, ENVI and Ram. Popular models include the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Town and Country, the Sebring and the Crossfire.

Chrysler risk considerations

You have a low risk of theft if you own Chrysler. Just 1% of the top 100 car models stolen most frequently was a Chrysler: the Chrysler Le Baron. You'll generally find that auto insurance costs for vehicles with low theft rates are lower; however, this is not always the case, and other factors may play a larger role.

Though the theft risks are low for most Chryslers, the crash test results show that Chryslers can be risky  – at least when it comes to rear crashes. Many of the Chrysler models received a "poor " rating in this category, including the PT Cruiser, Pacifica, Town and Country and the Sebring. These passed the front and side impacts on crash tests, but some of the PT Cruisers, Neons and Le Barons failed in those areas as well.

It's important to check the year, make and model of your Chrysler to find out how well you did on crash tests. This will play a role in the cost of insurance – particularly personal injury protection insurance and uninsured motorist coverage.

Chrysler insurance rates

If you're thinking about purchasing a Chrysler, then don't forget to add insurance to your total ownership costs. You're looking at an average cost of $1320 per year for a new Chrysler. For example, insurance costs for the Chrysler PT Cruiser is $1,433 per year and the Sebring is $1,385. You'll pay a lower premium for a Chrysler Town and Country, which costs $1,163 on average each year. Close to that is the Chrysler Pacifica, with average insurance premium costs of $1,193 per year. Finally, expect to pay around $1,430 if you purchase a new Chrysler Crossfire. These costs are based on averages, but they'll give you a good idea of what to budget for.
