In Delaware, the length of time that you may be required to keep SR-22 auto insurance varies from three to five years, depending on driving history and the type of offense for which the driver was convicted. If SR-22 is allowed to lapse during this time, then Delaware DMV will revoke all driving privileges.
One option to the SR-22 is to buy a bond. The state of Delaware will determine the amount of the bond, but it normally runs between $30,000 and $50,000. Only a state-authorized surety company or state licensed auto insurance company may issue these types of bonds.
