Hyundai Auto Insurance
The Hyundai is one of the "Big Four " in Japan, and is currently the fourth biggest manufacturer of automobiles on the planet. Hyundai Motor Company came about in the 1960s, as a division of a South Korean company (Hyundai Engineering and Construction). Hyundai Motor Company is a branch of the Hyundai Kia Automotive group today, and produces the popular Hyundai Genesis, Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Veracruz models, among many others. Each model carries its own auto insurance considerations, which we'll review in detail below.
Hyundai safety considerations for auto insurance
Three Hyundai models made the Top Safety Picks list issued by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: the Hyundai Genesis, Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Veracruz. Crash tests results were fine overall for Hyundai.
Some models did not do well with rear crash tests, however. These included:
- Hyundai Accent
- Hyundai Elantra
- Hyundai Santa Fe
- Hyundai Sonata
- Hyundai Tucson
- Hyundai XG350
As far as risk of getting stolen, a Hyundai has low risks. The National Insurance Crime Bureau reported on the top 100 most commonly stolen vehicles, and no Hyundai models were found on that list. Your auto insurance rates may be affected by the risk profile of your vehicle, so a low theft rate will be in your favor, in terms of auto insurance premiums.
Hyundai auto insurance costs
Calculating the ownership costs of a Hyundai must also include insurance costs. It will help you to budget for all expenses that you can anticipate in a given year. The great thing about owning a Hyundai when it comes to insurance is that the rates are reasonable. Hyundai models cost on average $1,336 per year for insurance. Some examples include the Hyundai Elantra at $1,301, and the Hyundai Genesis, which costs $1606 per year. The Hyundai Vera and Sonata each cost $1,342 in annual insurance premiums. The Hyundai Tuscan costs $1,194, and the Hyundai Santa Fe costs $1,228 per year.
