Rental Reimbursement Coverage

Rental Reimbursement Auto Insurance

You might need to rent a car after an accident, which can be costly without rental reimbursement coverage. When you add this to your existing policy, you can have the peace of mind that you won't have to pay unexpected out-of-pocket expenses to cover the costs of renting a car to go to work, or for other purposes. Many insurance policies don't reimburse for expenses, and therefore you should consider adding this optional coverage.

Rental fees covered with reimbursement insurance

When your car is totaled in a crash, or if your car is not operational due to structural or engineering damages for a time, you'll need some other way to get around. If you have a second car, then you may not be inconvenienced in anyway. However, if you don't have an alternative car, your best option is often renting one.

Rental fees for a week or two can add up significantly, sometimes costing several hundred dollars. Rental reimbursement coverage only costs a few dollars per month. Therefore, it may be worth the financial investment to pay monthly for coverage, instead of facing a huge bill when you least expect it.

Coverage limits for rental reimbursement coverage

There are limits on rental reimbursement coverage, and it's important to know what they are for your policy before renting a car. That is, you can't spend endless amounts on a car rental. Your insurance policy might limit how much it will reimburse you for renting a car on a daily basis, as well as on a per -accident basis. For example, if your limit is $30 per day and $700 per accident, then you won't get more than $30 back for your daily rental charges  and no more than $700 for that one accident.
