- In case of revocations of license (Type Action 01 and 02).
- In the case of mandatory insurance supervisions.
- For individuals who have received more than three convictions for mandatory insurance violations.
A SR-22 auto insurance rider is simply a guarantee that you have – and will keep – auto insurance for a certain period of time. If you allow your auto insurance to lapse for any reason, then the DMV will be notified and you will lose your license. In Rhode Island, you may not use an SR-22 certificate that was issued in another state. You must apply for a new one through a company that is licensed to do business in Rhode Island.
